A 40th birthday party for beavers

Date: 23rd Mar 2026 Author: jenny stephens
This year Beavers celebrates its 40th year, and what better excuse to have a party with our Beavers.

We borrowed Bath Scout HQ in Grove Street for a Friday night sleepover. Much excitement, a chip tea, cake and a film kept everyone busy till well past our bedtimes. In the morning we were up early for some scouting themed games exploring the promise, and the history of scouting. The Beavers were amazed to see what scouts looked like in the early days, with their shorts, staffs and big hats!
Every party needs dancing, and the Beavers introduced us to ‘dance party’ and we taught them them wink murder and the after eight game in return. Everyone went home tired and with chocolate on their faces.
We were super proud of the Beavers – many of whom were on their first night away with us, and hopefully the first of many more as Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
