FAQs

When Do Sections Meet?

  • Beavers: Saturday 9-10:15am
  • Cubs: Thursday 7-8:30pm
  • Scouts: Thursday 7-9pm

Will I automatically move up between sections?

Yes – we will be in touch to arrange an agreed time to move between sections. You don’t need to separately apply for the waiting list for the next section.

How much does it cost?

Subs are currently set at £10 per month, which includes membership of the group, district and national Scout Association, insurance, use of the hall, and weekly meetings. A request for subs payment will be requested upon investiture of your child – usually within a few weeks of commencement.
Camps, day trips, etc are generally charged separately, at cost-price. Typically you can expect to pay around £20 per day for a camp, depending on activities and location.
If you are struggling to pay for a Scouting cost, please talk to us. We believe that no member should miss out due to financial circumstances, and we can arrange various ways to ease the burden.

Will members be safe?

All our leaders undertake DBS checks, and a strict appointment procedure is followed. All of the leaders will have undertaken appropriate training, and all activities are fully risk-assessed.
Scouting encourages young people to take sensible risks in a controlled way. Young members will climb trees, light fires and learn to use knives and axes as well as taking part in a number of adventurous activities. We recognise that minor injuries are an inevitable part of childhood, but follow risk assessments and operating procedures to ensure that all activities are as safe as possible

How can parents help?

We are family-orientated group, and encourage all family members to get involved. Whether it’s helping occasionally as part of a parent helper rota, supporting camps and trips, taking on a more regular leadership role, or supporting the executive committee, there are always jobs to be done! Even if it’s just washing the tea towels after camp!

Do you have a Facebook page?

We have Private Groups for each section on Facebook visible only to invited members with a young person in that section. If you wish to be invited a group, please ask a leader. Should you not wish your young person’s photos to appear on our Facebook posts please let a leader know or add it to your young person’s information on OSM.
