A Greek Feast

Our team of four Scouts were thrilled to be named the winning team at this years Avon Scouts Cooking competition.
This year’s theme was the Paris Olympics, and the teams had to create a three course meal for five people. The young people took inspiration from the first Olympics to present a Greek menu – Greek salad, souvlaki with pitta and fig cheesecake.

The food had to be cooked in a ‘camp kitchen’ and points were awarded for teamwork, hygiene, presentation, relevance to the theme and of course taste.

Bess said “It was fun. Our group worked really well together and best of all, we got to eat all the food. Oh, and did I mention we won?!”
1st Stoke Gifford Scouts came a very close second with a Greek and French menu, finished off with ‘Olympic Ring doughnuts’
Discretionary points were given for the teams enjoying the food they had made and the judges were impressed by the 69th’s meal, saying “I wouldn’t be disappointed if I was served this in a restaurant.”
