Cubs challenges! Lego and dressing up
On the 25 of January, the 69th Cubs group had two fun activities!

This weeks cub challenge was to dress up
Each week, a Six chooses a game for us to play. The first activity of the night was organised by Green Six. They had chosen fancy dress, but it wasn’t ordinary fancy dress, it had to be something unusual. One person dressed up as a Judo turkey by wearing their Judo kit with a hat in the shape of a turkey. Another person wore their football kit back to front. And some people wore historical costumes. Green Six were the judges and gave out scores from 1 to 10. Most people got a 5 or a 10. The game was really popular.
The second activity of the night was very successful. It was the Lego volcano challenge. Each Six had to use Lego to make a volcano with a slope for the lava to push our boat with a figure in it down. When the volcanoes were ready we added vinegar to bicarbonate of soda inside the volcano and a chemical reaction took place.
The volcano erupted and the lava mixture bubbled up and pushed the boats down the volcanoes. However, if you had a hole in your Six’s volcano you had a big problem because non of the lava would go up, instead it would just leak out of the side.
What a fantastic set of activities. I can’t wait for next week because some of the cubs are getting invested at the top of Kelston Roundhill.
Our programme is Youth Led, and the Cubs have a truly varied programme throughout the year, to engage all the cubs and help them gain skills for life. Thanks go to Cub Thomas Bates for the write up!
