Malverns expeditions
On a sunny Saturday in Gloucestershire, the 69th Bath Scouts took on a 7km route over unfamiliar terrain. Supported by leaders from the 69th and 28th (Bathampton) they walked across 2 of the 3 ridges in the Malvern Hills.
After an early start and driving up to the Malvern hills in the minibus. The Scouts were excited about the terrain they were going to cover. With a safety briefing and group kit issued to them, they set off on their hike.
The Scouts walked in patrols and worked together to navigate effectively across the hills, all without the help from leaders. They also communicated clearly to supporting leaders via radios, a key skill to ensure their safety when walking without leaders. This day was a great test of their teamwork, leadership and navigational skills.
It was a busy day out in the hills, but the Scouts represented themselves fantastically. We were proud when a member of the public approached the leaders to give her praise of how polite and well presented the Scouts were!
All involved were very happy with the day and are looking forward to heading out into Exmoor in April to further test their navigation and teamwork skills.
Well done everyone!
