Scouts take on the Cook Off: February 2023

Date: 14th Feb 2023 Author: Alex Hazle
Exciting news that our team came third in the Avon County Cook Off.
Inspired by the forthcoming World Scout Jamboree in South Korea, our team devised an impressive menu. Gyoza to start, followed by ramen noodles and chocolate-coated strawberries for dessert.
The Judges were assessing a wide range of criteria: not only did the food need to taste excellent, marks were awarded for teamwork, table decorations, presentation and tidying up too. The team’s obvious enjoyment in eating their meal afterwards certainly played a part too!
The awesome foursome only had access to a field camp kitchen, such as gas burners, and no oven. They had two hours to prepare, with a limited budget. Huge congratulations to them all, and thanks to Matt for excellent leading. We also acknowledge the time and effort from families who supported their Scouts through the practice sessions over the weekends beforehand.
On a Korean theme, our former Scout Otis has been selected to be part of an adventure of a lifetime – at the  World Scout Jamboree, taking place in SaeManGeum in Korea.  These are just some of the opportunities open to young people as they progress from Beavers through the sections.
